The inauguration ceremony, held on the 23rd of February, 2024, witnessed the presence of esteemed dignitaries, university officials, and community members.

Dr. Bedilu Teka, acting President and Vice President for Academic, Research, Technology Transfer, and Community Service, expressed the university's commitment to fostering a conducive atmosphere for its workforce. In his opening speech, Dr. Bedilu emphasized the importance of providing facilities that cater to the diverse needs of university employees. The daycare center, he highlighted, is particularly designed to offer relief to female staff members who have children aged from six months to 3 years.

His Excellency Endalkachew Teferi, Administrator of Ilu Aba Bor Zone and a member of Mattu University board, lauded the initiative during his address. He stressed that the daycare center plays a crucial role in enabling the university community to concentrate on their professional activities, ultimately delivering superior services. Mr. Endalkachew also outlined Mattu University's broader commitment to community service, encompassing various sectors such as capacity building, technological advancements in schools, support for health services, and agricultural development.

Dr. Endegena Abbe, former President of Mattu University, expressed gratitude to the university's leadership team for the swift completion of the daycare center. The efficient execution of this project within a short timeframe stands as a testament to the university's dedication to its staff's well-being.

Engineer Daniel Gedefa, Director for the Construction Directorate, shed light on the financial aspect of the project, stating that the daycare center was constructed with a budget of 12 million birr allocated by the university. He highlighted the facility's various rooms designed to provide diverse services for the children, complete with cutting-edge technological equipment.

The inauguration ceremony saw the participation of deans, directors, and all stakeholders involved in the project, showcasing the collective effort invested in bringing this crucial facility to fruition. Mattu University daycare center is poised to make a significant impact on the lives of its employees, particularly those balancing professional responsibilities with childcare.
