EPHA would like to pass its deepest condolences on the passing of Dr. Catherine Hamlin.

It is to be recalled that, Hamlin Fistula Hospital has been received an Institutional Award of the Ethiopian Public Health Association (EPHA) in 2011.

EPHA Cancels its 31st Annual Scientific Conference and General Assembly due to COVID-19.

The Ethiopian Public Health Association (EPHA) 31st Annual Scientific Conference and General Assembly which had been scheduled to be conducted from 15 - 17 March 2020, has been canceled in response to Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19) prevention.

Dr. Mitkie Molla President of EPHA underlined that EPHA as a public health organization should take the leading part as a role model for others in prevention of any emerging health matters. Thus, EPHA has decided to postpone the conference due to COVID-19 prevention.

On her message, she has also advised that the community shall avoid unnecessary fear and anxiety rather giving significant attention for proper prevention is what the time needed.

Dr. Alemayehu Mekonnen Executive Director of EPHA, on his part, said, EPHA has been exhausted in organizing the 31st annual scientific conference, yet EPHA will never walk a single step against its mission and vision. At this particular time, the Association's concern is controlling and prevention of COVID-19.

“The time of the conference will be decided in the future and will circulate to all members and partners.” He added.

It is to be recalled that the first confirmed case of COVID-19 in Ethiopia has announced on the 13th of March 2020.

Based on important and current updates on COVID19, we have been advised to postpone public gathering including the upcoming EPHA conference as a public health measure

Therefore, please be informed that the annual conference will not take place as scheduled between 15-17 March 2020.
