The Ethiopian Public Health Association (EPHA) is a registered Health Professional Association committed to improve the health and living status of the people of Ethiopia through the dedicated and active involvement of its members and in collaboration with stakeholders. The Ethiopian Public Health Association (EPHA) is accepting applications to recruit a competent Executive Director for its secretariat to oversee all operations, services, planning, staffing, budgeting, fundraising, project, membership and chapter- related activities of the Association in consultation with the Executive Board. 

Job Title:                     Executive Director

Accountable to:           Executive Board

                       

Key Responsibilities:

·         Responsible for the overall leadership, coordination, development and implementation of the activities of the Association, manage and guide staff of the Secretariat.

·         Assist the Executive Board in setting program, goals and strategies, development of proposals, effective mobilization and utilization of resources.

·         Plan and facilitate organizational meetings, national and international conferences and trainings of the Association.

·         Monitor program objectives, track implementation and resource utilization, document and report to the Executive Board regularly.

·         Develop and maintain positive working relationships with FMOH, government and non-government stakeholders, universities, professional associations, donor community, foundations and other international and bilateral organizations in consultation with the Board.

·         Provides evidence-based information to the Executive Board useful for policies, programs and strategic directions of the Association.

·         Facilitate and strengthen membership and their capacities, dissemination of technical information to members and the public.

 Required Experience and Qualification

  • PHD in Public Health, 7 years of professional progressive work experience of which 5 years in senior leadership and management position
  • MD, MPH, or MD MSC with 9 years of professional progressive work experience of which 5 years in senior leadership and management position
  • BSC (in Health and Health related field), MPH with 12 years professional progressive work experience of which 5years in senior leadership and management position.

Other Required Skills

  • Fluency in English and Amharic – Excellent written and verbal communication in English.
  • Ability to plan, direct and coordinate activities, negotiate and administer contracts, work with government agencies, non-governmental organization, institutions of higher learning, development partners and other organizations as necessary, exhibit independent and objective judgment in program and project development, planning implementation, monitoring and evaluation.
  • Principled and demonstrated excellence as team leader with fiscal and organizational management and people skill, as well as  ability to create enabling working environment for optimal staff performance.
  • Good communication, advocacy, negotiation and fund raising skills, managing and conducting research and training activities  with ability to analyze  situations and make sound recommendations.
  • Strong track record in report writing, networking skills with ability to communicate with partners at different levels.
  • Excellent computer skills.

Duty Station:                         Addis Ababa.
