EPHA Implements Stay at Home Advice

As of 31st of March 2020, most staff members of the Ethiopian Public Health Association (EPHA) secretariat are off workplace and stayed-at-home as measure for prevention of COVID-19 pandemic.
Dr. Alemayehu Mekonnen, Executive Director of EPHA, said only management members and few key positions personnel are working in office. Whereas, most employees are working virtually from home by being on standby for any urgent need.
“This public health measure is mainly aimed at reduction of the staff exposure to COVID-19 infection through avoiding the use of public transportation means.” He added

EPHA also provides additional mechanical washing material at the main entrance and hand sanitizer dispensers at the gate of its premise and each floor.

This hand touch free washing tool is mechanical and operated by feet. The soap is positioned on the left side and the water dispenser on the right side. The tool helps to avoid contamination through hands.
It is to be recalled that, EPHA has arranged an orientation on infection prevention to all staff for better understanding and implementation.
It is believed that, sister Associations and many other Civil Society Organizations will follow EPHA’s footsteps in prevention of COVID-19 pandemic.

ከሙያ ማኅበራት የተሰጠ ጋዜጣዊ መግለጫ

የኮሮና ቫይረስ በሽታ (ኮቪድ-19) ስርጭትን ለመግታት እየተደረገ ያለውን ሀገራዊ ምላሽ /National response/ ለማገዝ የጤና ሙያ ማኅበራት የተቀናጀ እንቅስቃሴ በማድረግ ላይ ይገኛሉ።

በአሁኑ ወቅት በዓለም አቀፍ ደረጃ ብሎም በኢትዮጵያ አሳሳቢ እና ዋነኛ የሕብረተሰብ ጤና ስጋት የሆነውን የኮቪድ-19 በሽታ ወረርሽኝ ለመከላከል ብሎም ለመቆጣጠር በተለያዩ አካላት በተለይም በመንግስትና በሙያ ማህበራት  ዘርፈ ብዙ እንቅስቃሴ በመደረግ ላይ ይገኛል፡፡ በተለይ ሲቪል የማሕበረሰብ ድርጅቶች አካል የሆኑት የጤና ሙያ ማሕበራት ተቀናጅተው ህብረተሰቡ ለበሽታው እንዳይጋለጥ ሳይንሳዊ /scientific/ እና በመረጃ ላይ የተመሰረተ /evidence based/ በሆነ መንገድ መንግስት እየወሰደ ያለዉን የመከላከልና የመቆጣጠር እርምጃ በመርዳት ላይ ይገኛሉ፡፡

ለአብነት ያህል ካለፈዉ ሳምንት ጀምሮ ለጤና ባለሙያዎች ስልጠና በመስጠት ላይ እንገኛለን፡፡ እንዲሁም የበሽታውን ምንነት እና መከላከያ መንገዶችን ለኅብረተሰቡ ለማድረስ ልዩ ልዩ መልዕክቶችን በማሳተም እንዲሰራጭ ተደርጓል፡፡

በተጨማሪም ቫይረሱ በሌሎች አገሮች እያደረሰ ካለው አስከፊ ቀውስ በመነሳት በጋራ እየሰራ የሚገኘዉ የሲቪል ማሕበረሰብ ድርጅቶች አካል የመከላከልና የመቆጣጠር ስራዉን በተሻለ ሁኔታ ለማቀናጀትና የተለያዩ አካላትንም ድርሻ ለመጠቆም ይህ መግለጫ ተዘጋጅቷል::

Work Place Interventions in Ethiopian Public Health Association (EPHA) on COVID-19 Prevention

EPHA has performed the following activities in relation to COVID-19 prevention

• Cancels a huge event of the association (31st annual conference)
• Establishes taskforce on COVID-19
• Posting updates on notice board
• Sending updated information, links and articles through emails to members
• Demonstrates proper handwashing and provide handwashing materials at the gate (encourages to wash hands frequently)
• Posts different videos, news and articles about COVID-19 on EPHA Facebook page and website as well
• Provides an orientation on COVID-19 to staffs
• Distributes alcohol with hygienic absorbent cotton and glove
• Posts banner and scrolling banner on the prevention of COVID-19 at the gate
• Print and distributes leaflets on the prevention of COVID-19 to the public
• Plans to print stickers for cars
• Plans to arrange infection prevention training to staffs

It is believed that, other Governmental and Nongovernmental organizations will take a lesson from EPHA
